Baseball Burial Sites by Bob Bailey
Baseball Burial Sites by Bob Bailey
Are you aware that one cemetery in the United States is the final resting place for almost twice as many major league baseball players (91) as any other burial site? Or why Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California would be the resting place for the second highest total (48). These are just a few of the facts that you will learn by reading Bob Bailey’s Introduction to this invaluable reference book. Or you may find out why one baseball player whose father is a Hall of Famer is buried right next to another Hall of Famer in a different cemetery, in a different state. Why?
In a labor of love that began in 1984, the author has created a database of over 7000 names and 3600 locations of players, with several hundred additional names of owners, umpires, writers, broadcasters, Negro league players, and other baseball notables. The individual lists contain the name of the individual, date of death, and burial location. A final list is a catalog by location. All the names from all lists are broken down by state, county, and cemetery, with a further listing of what metropolitan area a county is in.
