R. Cary Bynum was born in Atlanta, GA. He received a BFA from the University of Georgia and an MA from City University of New York. The author of fourteen produced plays, Mr. Bynum's work has been seen in New York, Atlanta and in other U.S. cities. A televised production of his oral history play Cabbagetown: 3 Women received two regional Emmy nominations. He has been the recipient of a John Golden Award. A publisher and writer, he lives in Atlanta with his wife, actor-director-teacher Brenda Bynum. They have two sons.
